only made it three films into my 1001 movies to see list

before I don't think I can really tell how many movies I've recommended.

I'm still having a lot of fun thinking about and writing about the movies on this list but it's tricky in a way I wasn't expecting. Coming up with the main movies is easy enough so far—there are a bunch of movies I like a lot and have seen enough that I can pitch them. It's the related recommendations that are hard.

There's sort of a two-fold problem: there are movies that I think are interesting pairings but I haven't seen often or recently enough to be sure without a rewatch; and there are movies that are good pairings but I want to debut them on the main list before they appear in follow-ups (for the first films anyway. I promise you there is no way I am making it to 1,001 if I'm burning 4 films for each main recommendation). That part is also fun though. It lets me mention second films by directors early (in F for Fake I even mention that I am planning on recommending a different film by Peter Watkins), and also it's going to make it easier to mention something other than the big obvious choice film by some directors.

Anyway, movies rule. You should watch them and you should tell me about the cool ones you're watching
